Notice of Property Tax Increase
The Monroe County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 6.13 percent. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Monroe County Commissioners Office, 38 West Main Street, Forsyth, Georgia on September 22, 2016 at 6:00 pm.
Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at the Monroe County Commissioners Office, 38 West Main Street, Forsyth, Georgia on September 29, 2016 at 9:00 am and 6:00 pm.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 11.831 mills, an increase of 1.000 mill. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 10.831 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $20.00 and the proposed tax increase for nonhomestead property with a fair market value of $250,000 is approximately $50.00.
